Nottinghamshire Police are appealing for witnesses after an incident on the A46 near Newark this morning which led to a lorry shedding its load.
The incident took place at around 2.50am today (28 January, 2016) and has caused delays lasting throughout the day.
A lorry shed its load and a second lorry suffered damage to its fuel tank after striking the resulting debris, causing diesel to be spilt onto the road. A car also suffered a puncture.
A large clean-up operation is currently underway in an effort to get the road fully re-opened as soon as possible but, 15 hours after the original incident, traffic is still being delayed in the area.
Officers are keen to trace the driver of a black BMW which may have been involved in the incident but did not stop at the scene. Anyone who witnessed what happened or has information on the black BMW is asked to call Nottinghamshire Police on 101 quoting incident number 37 of 28 January 2016.
